Live concerts by the Michael Wollny Trio are always experiences to be treasured. These three ideally matched musicians never fail to find fascinating new directions for the music, or to take the listener by surprise. At the end of October 2015, when Wollny, Weber und Schaefer were setting off on a Karsten Jahnke JazzNights tour, taking in fourteen German cities, the respected German broadsheet the Süddeutsche Zeitung gleefully quipped: “Wollny's off on tour. Just get yourselves there. Awesome!”

Goods' warm-sounding, fast picking guitar, his flexible phrasing and smooth vocals; Haffner's uniquely bouncy drums; Di Gioia’s wonderful timing and inspirational, effervescent piano and Fender Rhodes; Lefebvre’s concise bass; all of these merge to form distinctively new, convincing interpretations of spirituals and soul classics.
Even Norwegians get the blues. On “Tears Of The World,” guitarist Knut Reiersrud and his band find themselves in the company of the 72-year old vocalist Mighty Sam McClain, originally from Louisiana. Together, they have dedicated themselves to the music of the deep south and have given impressive proof that, when it comes to playing hard-driven R&B, soul or blues, it's not where you come from that's important. On June 16, 2015 Mighty Sam McClain died. „Tears Of The World“ is his last album and will remain as his legacy. The Blues- & Soulworld lost an outstanding artist.
Adam Bałdych is probably the best living violin player in jazz today. Together with the Helge Lien Trio he combines the influences of jazz, Polish and Norwegian folk and popular modern music. An album full of melody and outstanding musicianship.
The programme is the star at “Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic”. The aim of the concert series, curated and produced by Siggi Loch, is to bring together different musicians in a way that has never been seen or heard before, with one thematic focus. On 13 February 2015, the eighth edition at the sold out Kammermusiksaal saw the spotlight focus on the accordion.
